Another to Come

Another to Come

There once was
a very old
young man
he has seemed to have lived
forever
and a day

In his mind
he was immortal
a man
of infinite years
and
of infinite knowledge

In life he suffered
much
tribulations of life
and yet survived
with seeming joy
so far

With this life
the very old
young man
has many memories
to think on
and recall

He has witnessed
many things
and knew
that there were still
many more
to come

He would
see them all
eventually
given time
time enough

But not just yet
unknown events
were to happen
soon
to this very old
young man

Another
was to come
one such as he
as yet unknown
a woman
elsewhere
not near

There was a woman
a strange
young woman
young
yet old
in many ways

Not old
as years gone by
but one old
in ways
of the world
and mind

She seems to be
all ages at once
young and old
and everything
in the between

This strange
young woman
was like
the very old
young man

She too seems
to have lived
forever
and a day
at least
she thought

She
like the very old
young man
has lived
many things
and more

But somehow
she knows
her future
is not
alone

not now
not yet
somehow
to come

What
was to happen
had not happened
yet
so she waited

A long time
to you and I
but not for her
this strange
young woman

A short time
for the very old
young man

Something
would happen
each knew

Now
how they met
now no one knows
no one cares

Neither
the very old
young man
or the strange
young woman
knew
exactly

Nothing special
it just was
now

The very old
young man
just came
to know of
the strange
young woman

And yet
in a time
it was
they met

They knew
that they
were unique
and alike
together

No one
was like
these two
before
or ever

Nor would there be
two people
such as this
in the world
again

What they were
who they were
they did not
know
they did not
care

They had
the knowledge
of infinite times
and
the knowledge
of each other

The very old
young man
and
the very strange
young woman
grew
in all things

Always
together
and
never without
the other

Growing
in knowledge
and growing
in love
in all ways

Many things
done
many places
traveled
always
together

Seldom separate
never talking
yet always
understanding
and looking
and seeing

To the people
in the world
thinking
that they knew
these two
did not

This very old
young man
this very strange
young woman
were unknown
to all

Would these two
always
be one
always be
with each other
together

Neither he
nor she
knew
nor did they care
what would happen
would happen

But others
always talked
and wondered
forever
they thought
maybe

The very old
young man
and
the very strange
young woman
would be
forever
and a day

Until
the end
when all things
end
the end of
now

But not before
the next

The end
yet to come

This very old
young man
and this very strange
young woman
will end this
themselves

In a way
not guessed
by any
including themselves

For now
they have gone
we assume
together

Forever some talk
but no one can
really say
truthfully

Except
the very old
young man
and
the very strange
young woman
