It Lasts Forever

On some dark day
the world will end,
never to return.
The good man
leaves the world behind,
watching as it burns.

To a place of beauty
he will find himself that day.
A world as white as never seen.
A land of rest and play.
And on this world there is no night,
no winter or summer.
The sun shines all day long
and the spring lasts forever.
This world,
it lasts forever.

Any Act

I think what a joy it is to be alive,
and I wonder if I’ll ever leap inward
to the root of this flesh
and know myself as I once was.
The root is there.
Whether any act of mine can find it,
 remains tangled in the future.
But all things a man can do are mine.
Any act of mine may do it.
